DRAGON QUEST/WARRIOR
(DQ = 86, DW = 89) The original Dragon Warrior/Quest game. After a man known
only as the Dragonlord inhabited the long-forbidden Castle Charlock, a wave
of monsters and dragons began sweeping over the Kingdom of Alefgard. Princess
Gwaelin, the daughter of King Lorik of Tantegel Castle, was kidnapped and
imprisoned. A Dragon Warrior believed to be the descendant of Erdrick the
Great (or "Enicus the Great" in Dragon Quest) appeared,
then went on a quest to rescue Gwaelin and strike down the Dragonlord.
Dragon Quest comprises the first half of the Dragon Quest I & II Remix on the Super Famicom.
DRAGON QUEST/WARRIOR II
(DQ II = 87, DW II = 90) The legacy of Erdrick the Great continues. Several
decades having passed since the original descendant of Erdrick defeated
the Dragonlord in Dragon Warrior, the people of Alefgard have since
colonized an expanse of new lands discovered by the Erdrick descendant and
Princess Gwaelin, lands they named Torland. Suddenly, Hargon the Sorceror
declares war on the world, sending his beasts out to besiege and destroy
the Kingdom of Moonbrooke. The three current descendants of Erdrick, the
prince of Midenhall, the prince of Cannock, and the princess of Moonbrooke,
all unite to defeat Hargon and his powerful master, Malroth.
This game comprised the second half of the Dragon Quest I & II Remix on the Super Famicom.
DRAGON QUEST/WARRIOR III
(DQ III = 88, DW III = 91) "Before the legend can continue, it must
begin!" Actually a prequel that leads into the original Dragon Warrior/Quest
game, Dragon Warrior III chronicled the adventures of Erdrick the
Great, the warrior who came to Alefgard and saved it from the forces of
darkness ages before. The game begins with you (as Erdrick), a young hero
on his or her sixteenth birthday, about to see the king. After gathering
three companions of whatever class you wish, you travel the land in an effort
to vanquish the archfiend Baramos. It is discovered, however, that the true
source of evil lies in the Land of Darkness, a land also known as Alefgard.
Erdrick journeys to Charlock Castle and defeats the tyrant Zoma, restoring
peace to both lands.
Dragon Quest III was masterfully redone on the Super Famicoms Dragon Quest III Remix.
DRAGON QUEST/WARRIOR IV
(DQ IV = 90, DW IV = 92) The beginning of the second Dragon Warrior/Quest
trilogy, Dragon Warrior IV began the "Celestial Trilogy."
The adventure is divided up into five chapters. The first four detail the
adventures of the soldier Ragnar, the princess Alena, Taloon the merchant,
and the twin sisters, as they go about their way. The fifth chronicles the
coming of age of the prophecised hero, who gathers the characters of the
previous chapters as he or she journeys out to do battle with the wicked
Saro.
Taloon, the merchant from the third chapter of the game, became the main character in Torneco No Daibouken on the Super Famicom.
